TD Ameritrade Holding Corp was recently formed with the merger of TD Waterhouse and Ameritrade Holding Corp.
The merger is but one of a several significant consolidations in online brokerage. E-Trade Financial Corp. announced acquisitions of HarrisDirect from Toronto-based BMO Financial in August and BrownCo from JP Morgan Chase & Co. in September.
Like most online brokers, the new TD Ameritrade will have to contend with skittish retail investors.
