During office party weekend, December 14-17th, the amount of DUI arrests decreased over 40% this year.

The Colorado State Patrol reported that during the same 3-day period last year in 2006, there were more than 475 DUI arrests made. This year it was only 285 arrests.

“We hope the decline in DUI arrests is a sign that Coloradans are getting the message that driving while impaired is a crime that will not be tolerated,” stated Col. Mark Trostel, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol.

The Colorado State Patrol had the most DUI arrests for Office Party weekend with 65, followed by the Denver Police Department at 38, Colorado Springs Police Department at 25, with Douglas and Larimer County Sheriff Offices both having 16.

On New Year’s Eve, the Colorado State Patrol reported that only 77 people statewide were arrested through their Heat is On campaign.
