Lilly Duncan died when Victoria Barry, 27, drunk and behind the wheel of a Lexus SUV, slammed into her Nissan Altima as Duncan was returning from a family birthday party. Duncan’s death has been particularly hard on her now 13-year-old daughter, Dyrah.

The morning after the accident, Barry, 27, was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.219 percent. This week, a jury of eight women and four men convicted her of two counts of vehicular homicide — one with DUI as an aggravating factor, the other with reckless driving as an aggravating factor — a DUI charge and one count of third-degree assault for injury to another victim. Prosecutor Blake Harrison argued that heading the wrong way down a long exit ramp, forcing cars to the side as she went indicated how intoxicated Barry was.

Barry seemed surprised by the verdict, visibly shaken and distraught. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 2 at 1:30 p.m. and remains free on bond.
